The First Week: Knowing Yourself

"The First of Many Steps"

Growing up, we were taught a lot of things. We were guided by our parents in our first few years in this world. We were taught how to speak, how to walk. We were shaped by our parents, eventually becoming who we are right now. All of the things we've learned throughout the years is what defines us now. From the smallest choice, to the biggest decision. All of these has an impact in how we act and behave in front of people.

An Activity for Everyone

What others think about me
In school, we did an activity. As you can see, these are what people describe me as. Most of them are good and few of them are bad. Through this activity, I saw what other people see from me. I caught a glimpse of myself through others and because of that, I got to know myself more. This actually surprised me because, I didn't know how people look at me until now. I'm quite happy on how people see me, and theres a lesson to be learned here. Just, always be yourself. You are unique. You are one in a million. You have your own strengths and weaknesses, everyone does. If you ever feel like you need to fit in, you don't. You will eventually find friends or groups that will accept you for who you really are.

Act it Out

Another thing we did this week is to act out a topic. Our topic was Information Literacy. First, we need to understand the topic itself so we know how to convey the meaning of it. Once we did, we planned our skit, and practiced. We thought of Romeo and Juliet with a mix of comedy in it. To us, information literacy is basically the hyper ability to know when there is a need for information, to be able to identify, locate, evaluate, and effectively use that information for the issue or problem at hand. In our skit, we first did a parody of Romeo and Juliet, then we did the original story. It shows that, information we provide should be correct. If not, there will be misunderstanding.
